Many have noticed that Comm 1 was not offered in AY 2018 and is not in the course offerings for AY 2019-2020.  Why is that?

The short answer is that Comm 1 has been discontinued since 2018.  The long-ish answer you can read here.

If you are an AA Student following the 2005 or 2011 curriculum, you have problems because Comm 1 is a required course for you.

 How do we solve this?

The Faculty of Education has decided that Comm 1 can be substituted by the new GE course COMM 10 (Critical Discourses in Communication).   If you still have not taken Comm 1, do take COMM 10 as your Comm 1 substitute.  If you are a graduating student on your last term, you will be able to substitute Comm 1 with any AH course on offer during your last term.

You may notice that Comm 1 (Communication Arts) and COMM 10 are very different courses in terms of knowledge and skills developed.  Thus, if you have taken and passed Comm 1 earlier, you may still enroll COMM 10 as an AH elective.

If you are not an AA Student, ask your program chair for advise regarding course substitution.
