The (8)-unit PE requirement is a standard requirement for all undergraduate programs, in UPOU and in other tertiary educational institutions.

However, there are some conditions that will allow you to gain exemption from the PE requirement.  These are:

  1. If you have reached the age of 30 at the time of your first enrollment to the AA program,
  2. If you have a physical condition that does not allow for physical exertion, and
  3. If you are serving full-time in the Philippine military for at least 2 years (Armed Forces, Navy, or Air Force) or a veteran thereof.
  4. You have already finished a Bachelors degree or Associate in Arts degree.

In order to be exempted from the PE requirement, you have to write a request letter addressed to the Dean of the Faculty of Education.  Sign and scan this letter.  Attach to this letter the following documents depending on the reason for your request:

  1. Age of 30:  Attach a scan of your PSA Birth Certificate.  (NOTE:  If your birth certificate is not legible, include a scanned copy of a government-issued ID with your birthday on it alongside your Birth Certificate.)
  2. Physical condition:  Attach a scan of the diagnosis of a government physician.
  3. Service in the military:  Attach a scan of the certification of service in the Military, or status as a veteran.
  4. Graduated Bachelors or Associate degree:  Attach your Diploma or Transcript.

It follows that you should name your files accordingly with SURNAME-INTAKE-DOCUMENT TYPE.pdf or .jpg (i.e., HIDALGO-1T2018-Birth certificate.pdf). Email your signed and scanned request letter and supporting documents to the FED mailer: fed@upou.edu.ph (cc: aa-program-chair@upou.edu.ph).

If you have earned credits for PE in a previous college or university, do apply for Transfer of Credit first, and then request for exemption for the remainder of your PE units.
